Some minor AppleScript improvements. Download SMS ver 1.5.6.
SMS is a small and user friendly program for sending text messages to GSM cellular phones from a Macintosh. The text message is typed in a normal text window, and must be less than 160 characters. The program dials a GSM carrier, which will transmit the message to the GSM mobile. SMS waits for an acknowledge from the GSM cellular. If the GSM cellular was not accessible, the message will be saved by the GSM carrier, and later retransmitted.
Here are some screenshots from the program.
Features
The messages are sent over a normal dial up modem connection. The program requires Mac OS System 7.5 or later (8.x for SMS ver 1.5), and a Hayes compatible modem.
SMS is a shareware program. Download a copy of SMS and try it. An unregistered copy of SMS is fully functional, except that the characters 'A' and 'E' in sent messages are transmitted as question marks. To register, send US $25 to SDS Data. In return you get a registration number wich enables sending of 'A' and 'E'.
The SMS distribution contains a registration program which you can use to pay the SMS registration fee. You can also pay online using Kagi Online Order Processing.
